The cache in Netscape is used to store previously visited pages so that they can be accessed more quickly. You can set the amount of storage which Netscape uses on the hard drive by following the instructions below:
Netscape (versions prior to 2.0)
- Enter the Options/Preferences menu, which should bring up a new window
- Select the Cache and Network settings from the drop down list at the top
- By default the memory cache is 600K and the disk cache is 5000K. If you would like you can decrease these sizes to save space.
- If you change either of the sizes or you want to clean up the space being used, press the Clear Memory Cache Now or Clear Disk Cache Now buttons. NOTE: On some machines this step may take a couple of minutes to process.
Netscape (version 2.0 and above)
- Enter the Options/Network Preferences menu, which should bring up a new window.
- Select the Cache tab from the tabs at the top of the screen.
- By default the memory cache is 600K and the disk cache is 5000K. If you would like you can decrease these sizes to save space.
- If you change either of the sizes or you want to clean up the space being used, press the Clear Memory Cache Now or Clear Disk Cache Now buttons.
